Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Underground Utilities Superintendent with expertise in water, sewage, drainage, and duct bank work to oversee and manage large-scale civil construction projects in Miami. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing the daily field operations, ensuring safety compliance, maintaining high-quality standards, and coordinating the execution of all underground utility work in alignment with project objectives and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Oversight: Manage and supervise all field activities, ensuring projects meet milestones and are completed on schedule. Maintain a proactive approach in identifying and solving potential issues.
- Safety Management: Ensure adherence to safety protocols for the crew, public, and all stakeholders. Promote a culture of safety and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Quality Control: Oversee construction activities to ensure work is performed according to contract documents and meets industry best practices. Ensure all work is compliant with quality standards and fully documented for inspections and approvals.
- Inspection Coordination: Ensure all inspections are scheduled and passed in accordance with regulatory requirements. Ensure that quality control aspects of the physical work are documented accurately.
- Compliance & Documentation: Maintain compliance with all legal and contractual obligations, ensuring that all project aspects adhere to contract terms, permits, and relevant community regulations.
- Scope & Change Management: Effectively manage changes to project scope, ensuring that up-to-date contract documents are used to minimize rework and maximize project efficiency.
- Administrative Responsibilities: Maintain accurate records of daily field reports, schedule updates, and email correspondence. Communicate effectively with project teams and stakeholders to ensure project goals are met.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 5-8 years of experience as a superintendent in heavy civil construction, with a focus on underground utilities, including water, sewage, drainage, and duct bank work.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong background in earthworks, utilities, roadwork, bridgework, and concrete construction.
- Specialized Skills: In-depth experience in underground utility installation and maintenance, including water, sewage, drainage systems, and duct banks.
- Public Works: Experience working in the public sector or on public works projects is a plus.
- Leadership: Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and mentor a team, ensuring effective coordination and collaboration.
- Documentation & Compliance: Experience with regulatory compliance and project documentation processes.
- Software Skills: Proficiency with construction management software, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong working knowledge of local regulations and permitting processes in Miami.
- Background in managing large-scale civil construction projects in urban environments.
- Ability to anticipate project challenges and proactively implement solutions.
